Out Of Your Head

“Grape Vine” tells a story of a cycle of reincarnation. One day Nyu Wa (a goddess in Chinese mythology)made wine from picked grapes and poured them into a large and a small wine glass. The greedy little man in stone drank from the large wine cup. Therefore,  nature was thus drowned in wine and turned into a field of white bones. Finally in the midst of it grew a small vine again.

nature

I referenced many Chinese landscape paintings at the bottom. I focused on observing and experimenting to see how the shape of a mountain or tree are depicted, or what colour it used. I think a little thicket between gaps of mountains would make the picture not that flat.

Now the outcomes has screened, and I reflected nature scene should stay a little more time to make more sense. I could move the clouds on the above, or flow the river in ae.

I only wanted to draw a silhouette of the man in stone to better depict what’s going on after he drank the wine in his body. However after discussing it with the group members, I decided to add more details. I referenced the stone texture and keep experimenting which one is better. Finally I multiplied the texture based on a lighter coloured man in stone. I also aware of drawing the expressions on him, the grasping hand movements and frowning in pain as he takes a sip of the wine that doesn’t belong to him.

adding music and sound effects

I enjoyed adding music and sound effects on garage band and recording sounds.I was conscious of the rhythm of the music and I put three different fragments of Chinese traditional instruments. The sound of castanets changed as the storyline goes.I adjusted the speed of recording of me drinking or walking to make a better effect.
